The Baby Weight Loss Challenge: Work It Out

Back in January I shared with all of you my desire to be “hot” again {read it here}.  A few months earlier I’d had my 3rd baby in 5 years and was feeling in a rut.  I gained 55 lbs with each of my pregnancies, and the weight was just not coming off the same after this last pregnancy.  Before having kids I was naturally thin.  I walked a lot, ate fairly healthy, and did more vigorous workouts on occasion.  I was thin, but I wasn’t strong.  And I wasn’t really in shape.  That played a major role in the effect pregnancy had on my body.  When I am pregnant I show mostly in my belly.  And after pregnancy I still look pregnant…for months afterwards.  Case in point: I took my son to his 4 month checkup and the nurse asked when I was due (how rude, right?!).  So I decided I wanted to do something about it.

Enter Casey, with CSWFitYoga. Casey is a personal trainer who specializes in individualized workout plans you can do in your own home, with what you have, and according to your personal fitness level.  I was drawn to Casey because she’s a fellow mom and I loved the idea of being able to work out at home, without having to either attempt to take my kids to the gym or find a sitter so I could work out.  Plus, she sends workouts via email and checks in after every workout, which means you really can’t beat having a personal trainer in your own home! Casey agreed to help whip me into shape, and I was excited to get started.  I started working out 5-6 times per week, at home, and quickly started seeing results.  {Read my post about how the program works here.}  That was 2 months ago, and I’m excited to report that I’ve lost 10 pounds in 2 months and seen the inches fall off (especially around my belly!!).

Even more than the weight loss, I’m most excited at the strength I’ve gained through this program.  I’m talking physical strength (as in I can now actually do a push-up). But I’m also talking mental strength.  It takes a lot to push through a workout when I’ve been up 16 hours and I just want to go to bed. To continue persevering even when it’s hard.  But it’s also satisfying when you get to the next cardio workout and you can go a little longer than the last day before you’re out of breath.

Whether you’ve recently had a baby, just want to lose a few pounds, or are interested in working on increasing your strength or stamina, I highly encourage you to check out CSWFitYoga.   Casey offers traditional personal training workouts, as well as yoga workouts and nutrition counseling.  You can visit her website for sample workouts, recipes, and more information.  You can also subscribe to her YouTube channel for more exercise demonstration videos.
