Escape to Relaxation: Massage Heights at Iowa River Landing

massageheightslogoIf you were at our 1st Birthday Bash, you were lucky enough to experience the awesome chair massages from the ladies at Massage Heights.  We heard rave reviews, and I was looking forward to my turn!  As luck would have it, Massage Heights invited me for the full treatment and asked me to share my experience with you.  So today, let me tell you about my escape to relaxation.

I was fortunate to receive the ultimate experience at Massage Heights (located at Iowa River Landing in Coralville).  However, before I even tell you about the services, let me tell you about the location!  First things first, there is parking, and that is a huge plus around here, as you all know!  I parked within ten steps of the front door, in fact.  And when you walk through that door, you are instantly relaxed (or at least I was).  Wonderfully clean, amazing smells, and just an overall feel of calm and relaxation.  And once you enter the doors of the spa area, it is complete silence.  Seriously, it’s so quiet.  For a mom of three children 5 and under, I don’t get to experience that level of quiet very often, so I feel the need to stress it more than once.

The massage rooms are dimly lit, with calming music and the softest, most wonderful sheets you will ever lay on (they had so many people comment on the sheets, they now have them available for purchase!).  I received a 1-hour massage, with the hot stone therapy as well.  It was not my first massage, but it was my first time using the hot stones and I loved it.  It really is amazing how much deeper of a massage you can get with the heat of the stones.  And as if that weren’t enough, I also received a 1-hour facial!  This was my first facial, as well.  I had no idea what they would do with my face for a whole hour, but let me tell you it was just as relaxing as the massage!  (And what they don’t tell you, is that you also get a hand and arm massage with the facial! Bonus secret!)

Needless to say, I came out of the spa looking like I may fall asleep at any moment.  The girls at the front desk even laughed about how I was going to drive home in that relaxed state!  After my appointment, the therapist reviewed the products with me:  both the aromatherapy used during the massage, and all of the products used in my facial.  It was so interesting to hear about all of the products and what they do for our face and our skin (it definitely made me start thinking about my current skin care routine, that’s for sure!).  The aromatherapy products are amazing as well; Massage Heights has an entire line of these products (bath salts, linen spray, body butter, etc.) known as “Heights at Home”.  I chose the “Breathe” (with Eucalyptus) as I had been struggling with a sinus infection and could use some clearing.  I’d say it definitely worked!

I’m sure you’re all wondering what I loved most about the experience, right?  Well, I have to say that I truly love the mission statement of Massage Heights, and the reminder that a massage is not just a luxury, but is a therapeutic solution to a lot of our daily complaints (headaches, migraines, stress, etc.).  Here is what Massage Heights has to say about massage:

“Getting a massage isn’t a luxury – it’s something you should do on a regular basis. Routine therapeutic massage can help elevate your everyday by improving your health, your mood and your life. Plus, it gives you something to look forward to. That’s what our Members enjoy about their routine visits. They leave feeling relaxed, rejuvenated and ready to face the day – every time.”

I love that.  And I honestly loved my experience at Massage Heights. I would definitely recommend this location to any mommy friend (or non-mommy friend too!) who is looking for a place to relax, de-stress, and get healthy.  The people were great, the service was amazing, and I hope to go back soon.  I recommend you consider becoming a member, as the benefits are great and we all know that if we have something promised to us each month (you can purchase 6 or 12 month packages), we are much more likely to go than if we had to call each month and set aside time for ourselves.  You deserve this, mamas, and you know it will make your whole family better if you feel better!  Try it out today!  (Click here for details)

Oh, and don’t forget!  The winner of our Super Mom Contest will be receiving all of the services that I reviewed for you today! (1 hour massage, 1 hour facial, and her choice of the hot stone therapy or a relaxing foot scrub)  Don’t forget to nominate a special mom in your life (a friend, your own mom, your sister, your grandma, a co-worker, or neighbor) to win the amazing prize package, which includes this escape to relaxation from Massage Heights, a hair cut & color (plus makeup application) from Groovy Katz Salon, and 2 complimentary tickets to the Inspire Motherhood Conference.  Deadline for nominations is Saturday, April 26th!

Special, special thanks to the ladies of Massage Heights at Iowa River Landing for my amazing, stress-free afternoon.  I wish we could give this gift to EVERY mom!  Thank you so much!
