If you read my last post, you know things can get a little hectic at my house around the holidays. And, although you might not be able to tell from my last post, I really do enjoy hosting Thanksgiving dinner at my house. In the last few years or so I’ve curated a great Thanksgiving menu from my favorite food blogs. If you’re hosting Thanksgiving at your house this year, give a few of these a try!
My favorite Thanksgiving Turkey: The Pioneer Woman
Have you ever brined a turkey before? It’s life-changing. She’s pretty much my go-to for cooking holiday meat . . . her Beef Tenderloin recipe is a mainstay at my house for Christmas too!
My favorite mashed potatoes: Our Best Bites
These turn out perfectly every time!

My favorite side dish: The Epicurean Explorer
I use fresh, not frozen. Side note: She’s local and teaches a great kid’s cooking class at Kirkwood!

My favorite pumpkin dessert: Iowa Girl Eats
The only thing I don’t like about this recipe is the fact that I only use 12 gingersnap cookies and end up throwing the rest of the box away about mid-July!

P.S. Today is my last post for ICMB. When I applied to be a contributor last October, I told myself I’d make a year commitment to Iowa City Moms Blog. As of November 3, that year is up! I applied to become a contributor because I wanted to meet other Iowa City mamas in the area. I met a group of the most amazing, smart, hardworking, and caring women as part of this experience. The most powerful thing I’m able to take away from this is, each of us mothers in the way that is best for us and our crazy families. How cool to have a blog that has found a way to celebrate each mother’s individuality, while reinforcing the idea that we are all part of this experience called motherhood together.
