It’s the first weekend of fall and it’s going to be beautiful! Head out with the family for some great fun. Here are my top picks of this weekend’s activities!
Saturday, September 26th
Terry Trueblood Recreation Hike 9:30am. Have you wanted to take your kids out on a hike and enjoy the outdoors? Come join Hike it Baby for a morning of fun at Terry Trueblood in Iowa City. Carriers and strollers welcome. It is a fun paved hike for adults and kids!
Banned Books Story time at the Iowa City Public Library 10:30am. Designed for the whole family and presented at a time convenient for most working parents. Story time includes both shorter and longer stories combined with action games and activities. Family Story time is recommended for all ages, but parents are asked to sit with their younger children.
Johnny Appleseed’s Birthday Celebration 12pm. Head on out to Wilson’s Apple Orchard for the celebration of Johnny Appleseed’s Birthday! It’s sure to be a fun-filled day at the orchard! The celebration includes a balloon artist, activities from 12-4 pm, and a hunt for the biggest and smallest apples. There will also be trailer rides all day, lots of great apple varieties ready to pick, and tasty refreshments like apple cider slushies, apple turnovers, apple cider donuts, fresh pressed apple cider available in gallons and half gallons, and more! The grill is also open from 11:30am-2:00pm serving hamburgers, brats, hot dogs, and chicken sandwiches.
Flashlight Maze 7pm. Older kids and adults will be sure to have fun at the flashlight maze at the Colony Pumpkin Patch in North Liberty. It will be the perfect evening for a little fun!
Sunday, September 27th
Take the day and enjoy the great outdoors with your family! Pack a picnic lunch and head to a park!
And the Kalona Fall Fest on Saturday . . . It’s my fav! Homemade bread, apple butter, apple fritters, kettle corn, etc. etc.
Maybe I should stop eating now to prep for Saturday 🙂
