Weekend Wednesday: October 10-11

Happy Fall!  It is going to be a beautiful weekend for a lot of fun fall family activities!  Here are my top picks!

Weekend Wednesday

Saturday, October 10th

Sass Family Farms Pumpkin Fest 10-7pm. Join us for our annual Pumpkin Fest and celebrate Halloween with games and activities like the balloon jump, apple-bobbing and hayrack rides. We’ll have food and beverages (warm & cold), plus all the usual summer and fall activities, produce and fun.  The Pumpkin Fest happens every 2nd weekend in October, when the farm goes full Halloween mode. Family fun is our goal: Hayrack rides, straw maze, haunted barn, corn jump, fresh baked goods, fright forest, petting zoo, crafts & antiques, games for the kids, playground equipment and more! Need fall produce? 20 variety or pumpkins, 10 types of squash, gourds, Indian & broom corn – decorative & edible fall bonanza.

Museum Mosaic 10-12pm.  Be part of something big, a community collaboration that brings us all together to beautify Coralville!  Purchase a tile for $10 at one of our glazing events.  You pick the color family and get creative! Finished tiles will be fired and added to a mosaic on the front of the Museum.

Halloween Sale at the Solon Library 9-12pm.  Purchase gently used Halloween costumes and decorations at this annual Friends of the Solon Public Library event.

Star Wars Read Day 2-4pm.  Star Wars Reads Day is back! The annual celebration of reading and a galaxy far, far away will storm our library and worldwide on October 10. We will have crafts, a Star Wars Story time, members of the 501st Legion, and a movie! Everyone is encouraged to dress like their favorite Star Wars character and join the fun. All welcome – from the youngest Padawan Learner to the wisest Jedi. Sith welcome too! Join us for Stories, activities, craft and much more all with a Star wars theme.

Moonlight Hayrack Ride and Movie 6-8pm.  Join us for an old fashioned hayrack ride. Rides take place at the Colony Farm off S. Front Street, just north of Van Allen Elementary. Snacks, hot cocoa, warm cider and crackling campfire provided. Rides are 20-30 minutes. This is not a haunted hayrack ride and it is intended for all ages. Hayrack rides are from 6-8:00PM and we will be showing some short Halloween kid favorites on our 12-foot outdoor movie screen during this time as well. Please bring own blankets & lawn chairs to enjoy the movies. Pre-registration required! Riders must attend the day pre-registered for and pre-ride check in required.  Children must be accompanied by an adult. Registration Deadline is October 9.  Cost is $4 per person, $12 per family of 4 (Children 2 & under are FREE)
