5 Reasons Jazzercise is the Workout You Need to Try {Sponsored Post}

Jazzercise is the workout that you have to try! I joined Jazzercise Iowa City about a year-and-a-half ago. When the owner asked me if I would write a piece for the moms blog, I said, “Of course!” because I love this workout. Here are 5 good reasons that I think you will love it, too.

Reason #1 You Should Join Jazzercise: It’s convenient.

Whether you are a working mom or a stay-at-home mom, there are class times that are convenient for you. Most weekdays there are 7-8 classes a day, and on weekends there are about four classes a day. If the only time you can get a workout in is when the rest of the world (including your kids!) is still asleep, check out their 5:30 a.m. class. If you’d need to hit snooze on that one, try out their classes at 7:15 a.m., 8:15 a.m., and 9:15 a.m. Mornings might not work for you, and that’s OK, too. There are classes starting at 4:30 p.m., 5:30 p.m., and 6:30 p.m. Check out the schedule here. And moms, just for you, there’s free babysitting at the 8:15 a.m. and 9:15 a.m. classes every weekday morning!

Reason #2 You Should Join Jazzercise: It’s fun!

This is one workout where you will not be looking at the clock wondering how much longer before it’s over. There’s great music, always current with the latest chart toppers. New routines come out all throughout the year so you never get bored with the music or the moves. There are lots of class formats, like Dance Mixx, Core, Strike, Strength 60, Interval Fusion, and more, each with some combination of dance and strength training. There are high energy, fun instructors cheering you on, and a room full of friendly faces working hard alongside you and having fun on the dance floor.

I go in the mornings, and honestly, it’s like starting my day with a dance party. In just about every class I get that “runner’s high,” where your endorphins kick in and you get that happy and tingly feeling. Wouldn’t you rather dance than run your way to that good feeling?

Reason #3 You Should Join Jazzercise: You’ll make friendships that keep you motivated to keep coming back.

As a work-from-home mom, one of the things that I love about Jazzercise is that I meet new people and get to make new friends at class. If you stick to a certain time slot, you’ll see the same people class after class and you’ll start to get to know them. You’ll look forward to seeing your Jazzercise friends, and you’ll know they’re expecting you to be there. That helps you keep showing up instead of dropping out of your workout. Nationwide, the average length of time that members have been Jazzercising is 7 years! This is a workout that you will stick with.

Reason #4 You Should Join Jazzercise: It works!

In a typical workout, you’ll burn 500-800 calories, depending on how hard you push yourself. I’ve lost about 20 pounds this year, and Jazzercise was a huge part of making that happen. If you’re not so worried about calorie count or weight loss, but just want to feel better and healthier, I can promise you’ll get that from Jazzercise, too. In my own experience, I’ve built up strength, stamina, and have so much more energy.

Reason #5 You Should Join Jazzercise: It’s affordable.

This May, classes are free all month. It’s the perfect time to try it out!

• Classes are free in 2017 for women ages 16-21 through the Girl Force program. So, if you’re a young mom, or a mom with a teen daughter you might like to bring along, ask about this program.

Childcare is FREE every weekday morning at the 8:15 a.m. and 9:15 a.m. classes. You don’t have to pay anything extra. Just sign up online by 9 p.m. the day before you plan to go to class, and your little ones will be taken care of while you have an hour of “me-time.”

• There are different enrollment options to fit your budget and schedule – a 6-month plan, a 12-month plan, punch passes, and single classes. You’ll find a plan that works for you.
