Friday, August 8th

Touch a Truck, 5-8 p.m. at Guthridge Park in Hiawatha. This community event provides families with the opportunity to learn about and explore trucks, construction vehicles, and public safety equipment that they know and love! Kids of all ages will love to climb, run around, sit in and even honk horns of many types of trucks and vehicles! Concessions available for purchase by Hi-CREW Kiwanis.
Bring a non perishable food donation to help support HACAP.

Music in the Park, 6-9 p.m. at Guthridge Park in Hiawatha.  Along with the Touch a Truck event, you can also enjoy live music in the park! This week the Do’s and the Don’ts are playing.  The Do’s and the Don’ts are a 50’s and 60’s Rock and Roll band from Ely, Iowa.

Saturday, August 9th

Lisbon Sauerkraut Days, Thurs-Sat in Lisbon.  Events include a parade, carnival, food vendors, brats with sauerkraut, live music, and street dance.

Jimmy Buffet Night at the CR Kernels, Perfect Game Field in Cedar Rapids.  Enjoy the music of the Compass Rose Band as part of Jimmy Buffett Night following the Kernels game with Kane County. Fireworks will follow as well.

Free Movie Series, sunset on the Pentacrest in Iowa City.  Bring your lawn chairs and blankets and enjoy a free movie on the Pentacrest!  Movies begin at sunset (between 8:15-9:00) outside of Macbride Hall.  Movies are shown every Saturday night throughout the summer.  This week’s showing is Super 8, rated PG-13.

Kaitlyn is the owner of Cedar Rapids Moms Blog and is an Iowa girl who has been married to her husband, Joshua, since 2007! She’s a busy work-at-home mama to their 5 children: 3 girls and 2 boys!
