Re-Cap: Wilson’s Orchard Playdate

IMG_3504 Once again, Wilson’s Orchard has proven to be one of our favorite playdate spots of the year.  We absolutely LOVE the morning at the orchard, and the weather was absolutely perfect (third year in a row!).

It’s so fun to watch all of the little ones pile onto the tractor ride with their mamas. And when ol’ Bessie dips her tires into the creek, the squeals are contagious!  Riding around the gorgeous rows of apple trees, and the pumpkin patch, is such a relaxing morning.  Taking a moment to get off the tractor, find the best apples on the tree, and help your littles pick them off, is the best!  We heard lots of first-time Wilsons visitors commenting about how they will be making this an annual tradition for their families.  Sounds good to us!

Speaking of family traditions, Wilson’s hosts “Family Friday Night” events nearly every week in September and October, with great music and food (and of course apples!).  To see these upcoming events (and don’t forget about Donut Wednesdays!), visit their calendar of events here.

IMG_3503After the tractor ride and some apple-picking, everyone (especially the pregnant mamas in the group!) was excited to head back up to the barn for warm, delicious apple turnovers.  Many of the kiddos paired their turnovers with an apple slushie; my kind of snack!  Inside the barn, we were also able to sample all of the amazing apple flavors that Wilsons has to offer, as well as browse all of their other items, from t-shirts to popcorn and more!  ICMB Contributor Shari picked up some of the frozen apple-cider donuts to take home, and she said her boys have been loving them in the mornings this week!

Another ICMB contributor, Ashley, was celebrating her 30th birthday that day at the orchard!  She went home with a delicious apple pie. Here’s what she said about her birthday treat:

IMG_8210“I tried a Wilson’s Apple Pie with a Crumble Top and it was so delicious. The apples in the filling were perfect, not too sweet, not too tart, and they didn’t dry out. The pie was so easy to make at home. All I had to do was fluff up the crumbles on the top of the pie and put it in the oven. It came out perfect and we enjoyed every bite! I highly recommend a giant scoop of ice cream with your pie. ;)”
