katharyne6katharyne5Looking for a photographer in the corridor area? Consider checking out Katharyne Dunn Photography!  I had the privilege of chatting with Katharyne about her love of photography and what she has to offer families in our community.  Check out what she had to say, as well as some AMAZING photos that she has taken…
Tell us about how you began your journey in photography.
As far back as I can remember growing up, my mom had a camera in her hand and had a passion for taking photographs of people and nature. We always had photos hanging in our home of our dogs, family members, flowers. I think seeing the joy it brought others, all because of her talent, is what sparked my initial passion for photography. One day I grabbed her camera and never really gave it back. While her passions moved into gardening and being in her yard, my passion for capturing memories and moments quickly grew.

katharyne4I started my business in 2008, as a high school senior, and haven’t stopped since. I was very involved in high school newspaper and yearbook and took a photography class so I knew that’s what I wanted to go to college for. I started school thinking I wanted to be a teacher, and teach photography. The more I learned and the more practiced, I realized that it was the interaction with my clients and the relationships I built with them that truly made my job so special. I then went to the University of Iowa to study Graphic Design and Photography. I continued my business through college and have recently gone full time photography families and weddings.
katharyne2What type of photography do you specialize in?
I specialize in lifestyle photography – capturing Weddings, Families and Newborns. It’s especially special when I am able to capture the growing families of past wedding couples. I also provide tangible products for families, including albums, wall art and prints so they can look back for years to come at those moments and share them with future generations.
Where are some of your favorite places to take photographs in the Corridor area?
katharyne3I love to explore new places, always. But some tried and true location favorites are Iowa River Landing, downtown Iowa City, and Ledges State Park. I also really love to take a more lifestyle approach and take photographs in families’ homes.
What do you want moms/families to know about Katharyne Dunn Photography?
I take extreme pride in providing the absolute best service and memories for your family. I love to provide an experience that you will love and photographs that you will cherish, but I also love to become your friend. I love to watch your family grow and change over the years and am so honored that I get to be a part of so many families’ lives.
