The Best Hour of Your Day: CrossFit for all Fitness Levels {Sponsored Post}

Are you ready to begin the journey to better fitness? Perhaps you’ve already started a fitness journey but you’re not getting the support or results that you want? We’d like to introduce you to CrossFit Kilo II, located just a few blocks south of downtown Iowa City! They are known for CrossFit, but have other training options, too!

Sweat & Stretch

The newest class is a low-impact style program called Sweat & Stretch. This class was started to demonstrate that everyone, no matter what your current level of fitness, can join and benefit from basic CrossFit (functional) training. It’s a great place to get started! Sweat & Stretch begins with a 30-minute workout to (you guessed it!) get you sweating. They cover strength, mobility, and endurance using body-friendly equipment, including kettlebells, medicine balls, dumbbells, bikes, rowers, and more. Workouts will be different every day, keeping class interesting and fun, which we love!

Once your heart rates are up and bodies warm, you’ll transition into stretching/yoga for the last 30-minutes of class. They utilize a few different programs for this portion of class, including traditional coach-led stretches, ROMWOD, and yoga with certified teachers. The benefits of stretching after exercising are extensive and this is a great environment to learn the proper way to experience those benefits such as increased flexibility, faster muscle recovery, increased joint mobility, and decreased risk for day-to-day injury. We can pretty much promise you’ll leave this class feeling better than ever.

There’s no introductory class requirement to participate in Sweat & Stretch. Classes are offered at 9 a.m. on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 12 p.m. on Thursday, and 7 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. For more information or to register for Sweat & Stretch, please email CrossFit Kilo II.

Other programs currently accepting enrollment include traditional CrossFit classes, Golf Fitness, and personal training. Here’s a little more information about each:

CrossFit

CrossFit workouts are based primarily on functional movements, meaning our fitness gained in the gym can be translated into our everyday lives. CrossFit trains aspects of running, rowing, weightlifting, gymnastics and more. These are essentially the core movements of life. Need to help a friend move their couch? Put a box on the top shelf of the closet? Get the ball from the other side of the fence? Catch your newly trained, two-wheeling preschooler who’s headed straight for the road (you only looked away for a second!)? This will help! The aim of CrossFit is to prepare you physically for anything and everything that might come up during your day. We’re not just exercising, we’re training. The CrossFit Kilo II program offers unlimited possibility for scaling and modification to meet you wherever you are, and all of the classes are led by coaches to help you along the way.

New members who don’t have a background with CrossFit will begin with a two week foundational program. In this program you’ll learn and practice all of the basic movements of CrossFit so you’re prepared to fully enjoy the classes. It also allows the staff and trainers to get to know more about you and your fitness goals. These free introductory courses are held on the first and third Saturday of every month at 10:30 AM. You can register online or via email..

Golf Fitness

In order to swing a golf club efficiently it’s important to have a body that moves efficiently. The Golf Fitness program is designed to help golfers be fit to play the game. They will start by completing a body movement screen to assess mobility and stability. Then, based on your results, a certified fitness professional will create a program to build strength, power, and flexibility unique to you as a golfer. They offer personal training and group fitness options to help you (and your friends) start playing your best. They also hold free Golf Fitness introductory courses every Saturday at 7:30 AM. You can register online or via email.

Personal Training

With personal training you’ll get one-on-one attention in exercise instruction. The CrossFit Kilo II staff will help you determine your fitness goals, create a program to get you there, and provide you with individual constructive feedback. There are several coaches with openings for personal training clients. Rates for personal training vary. For more information connect with CrossFit Kilo II via email
