{Re-Cap} Pancakes and Pajamas

Before the madness and chaos of the holidays began, we gathered together to have some fun with our families, eat some yummy food, and get into the holiday spirit!  Our 2nd annual Pancakes & Pajamas event was so much fun, and we are so glad that all of YOU were able to join us!

{The Venue}

A huge thank you to South Slope Cooperative for hosting us again this year.  It’s such a great space for hosting family-friendly events, and the spacious kitchen was perfect for all of our little elves running around flipping pancakes and sausages! If you’re looking for a space to host a family event, work function, or other activities, be sure to give South Slope a call!

The Family Dental Center:  We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, we couldn’t do the things we do without the amazing support of the Family Dental Center.  If you are new in town and looking for a dentist for yourself, your kids, or the whole entire family, CHECK THEM OUT.  You can ALL go at the same time, and their staff is wonderfully patient with even the smallest of visitors.  Centrally located right off of 965 in Coralville, the Family Dental Center is convenient for families from ALL areas of the corridor!

{Event Sponsors/Booths}

Montessori School of Iowa City:  It’s always great to see our friends from the Montessori School! They always have the most creative, fun activities for the kids, and Pancakes & Pajamas was no exception.  If you’re looking for schools for fall of 2018, be sure to contact Montessori ASAP and schedule a visit.  For more information on their philosophies and teaching styles, check out this post and/or watch our FB live interviews with their staff here, here, and here

UI Safety Store: We LOVED all of the adorable, pre-packaged winter-themed crafts at the Safety Store table.  Key words: pre-packaged!! That way, if you wanted, your kids could just snag one and take it home to put it together later! AKA giving the moms and dads a few quiet minutes later in the day, too! Score!  If you haven’t visited the Safety Store and the Kaleidoscope Gift Shop, grab a friend and take a trip there ASAP.  Check out our FB live tour to see what it’s all about!

Big Picture Gallery:  The snowflake activity at Big Picture‘s table was SO fun!! If you’re looking for a fun activity to do with your little ones on these cold days, try this one! We are excited for our Indoor Playdate at Big Picture next week, and we hope that you all get a chance to visit them for their fun activities and classes. Check out their website and schedule here!

Congruent Life Chiropractic: We loved watching the kids play at the Congruent Life booth! What a fun game! We highly recommend scheduling a visit to see Dr. Mike and his wife Mady at Congruent Life; the work they are doing for kids (and big people too!) is ground-breaking and we are so excited to see the growth of their practice in North Liberty!  Follow them on Facebook for more information and some great testimonials from their patients, too.

West Music:  Thanks to our friends at West Music, all of the little ones went home with their own jingle bells!  They also had a BLAST jumping around on the piano playmat! Special thanks to West Music for being another of our Indoor Playdate hosts, too.  If this cold weather has you looking for some fun things to do with your crew, check out their website and Facebook page today!

Debut Dance: The ball-toss game at the Debut Dance booth was fun for kids and parents alike; parents loved it because it was a SILENT ball game! And after playing, the kiddos went home with super cute little goodie bags for more fun at home, too!  If you’re looking for a dance studio for your little ones, check out their website and their Facebook page for more information!

US Cellular:  As parents, we absolutely love it when we can go to a place that ISN’T our house and let the kids do messy projects. Case in point:  the painting activity at the US Cellular booth!  What a blast!  Thanks so much to our new friends from US Cellular for joining us for a morning full of fun, and for providing such a fun activity for the kids.  Check out their website to chat with them about all of your mobile needs!

{Additional Thanks}

Merry Memories with Mrs. Claus: We have to say, we learned something at Pancakes & Pajamas this year:  little kids are not NEARLY as afraid of Mrs. Claus as they are of her famous husband!  All of the little ones were running up to read books, sit on her lap, and take a photo.  Special thanks to Merry Memories with Mrs. Claus for providing such a sweet photo op for so many of the parents. If you are looking for a Mrs. Claus for your family get-together, work events, or school functions, check her out here!

ICMB staff (and parents!): As always, we could not do ANY of these events without our amazing volunteer staff and our own parents. Thank you all so much for spending your Saturday morning flipping pancakes and sausages, checking people in, watching over the games and activities, and helping us clean up when all was said and done.  Standing ovation for all of the magic that happens behind-the-scenes of ICMB!

YOU, our readers and followers:  Last, but most certainly not least, we could have a beautiful location and amazing sponsors and wonderful helpers, but we wouldn’t have a successful event if YOU weren’t coming out to join us!  Thank you, thank you, thank you for following us, for reading our blog, for coming to our events, and for spreading the word about ICMB.  Our number one mission always has been, and always will be, to connect moms and families in our community.  We love you guys!  Happy New Year!
